The AMWA Charity Ball last weekend was a huge success! We raised over $400 for the Domicile! Thank you to all the hard workers who gave their time and effort to donate the lovely hats (in no particular order): Kristen Cline, Kourtne Murphy, Whitney Burnett, Emily Bray, Tina Firouzbakht, Kelli Gross, Valena Sellers, Dawn New-Weeks, Claire Cummins, Maranatha McLean, Jill McAngus, Pam Hayes, Kim Burckart and Niloo Al.

Special thanks to Yolan Shaw and Rachel Shin for putting NK's Baskets together and organizing the details. Thanks also to Maryann Mbaka and the AMWA Social Committee for working with NK :)

Knitting Behind Bars

We feel that knitting provides everything you need to do, everything you should have learned in kindergarten. It teaches you how to focus. It teaches you how to make a task and meet that goal. It teaches you how to control your anger. And we felt that all of these skills are life skills, are job skills. These are skills that, quite possibly, many people in our society are lacking.

Updated Page!

You no longer have to unravel all your hard work and start again if you spot a mistake, because there is a wealth of information and helpful resources on the internet. Some, of course, are much more helpful than others. We, here at NK Headquarters, have done the research for you, and watched many different videos on Youtube to find the best ones. Here are the best two Youtube channels we found:

The Techniques page (see the tab at the top of the posts) is now called "Techniques & Troubleshooting", and it has been revamped to include the clearest videos and pictures out there!

Testimonial:
I got this idea when I spotted some mistakes and dropped stitches after I had been knitting for some time in front of the TV. I thought I was paying enough attention to my work, but apparently not. So, in an attempt to avoid starting all over again - and it being the Holidays, I would not see the expert problem solvers of NK for some time - I combed Youtube for some tips, and finally found this video to be the most useful for my problem, and so I only had to undo a part of my work, and not all of it :) Say No to Distracted Knitting!

How to Undo a Stitch

Whether beginner, advanced or anywhere in between, we all need to undo our work sometime or other. It is much easier to know how to go back one stitch than to start all over again (believe me, I speak from experience!)

A more experienced knitter is not always available to fix it for you, so here's a very helpful video to show you how to undo your knit stitches:

(There is another one for taking out Purl stitches)

Happy knitting!

Welcome Back!!

Hey NKers,

Welcome back! Hope you had a fantastic summer. We will resume our weekly knit circles this Friday at noon, at Shriner's Cafeteria, 7th Floor .

In addition to getting reacquainted and catching up, we will talk about our plans for the Netter's Knitters table at the Community Fair in the upcoming First year orientation i.e. who can help us on that day, decorating a poster for our table, and cute baby hats to make for the display. Welcome Weekend is in late August, so we have more than a month to get ready!

Hope to see you at the knit circle, and remember, you can reach us by commenting here or by emailing us, or catching one of the officers around campus.
